The GCTS Point Load Tester is a device made of light-weight, high-strength anodized aluminum that can be used to determine the strength index of a rock sample, which can be used to estimate the uniaxial compressive strength of the sample. This test can be performed quickly and due to the system's light-weight design, can be performed in the field.

 

The GCTS Point Load Testing Systems include:

  • Load capacity of 100 kN (22 kips)
  • Light-weight design that weighs less than 14 kg (31 lb.)
  • Digital output with 10 N (1 lb.) resolution

The GCTS Point Load Testing System is ideal for the rapid and precise determination of a rock's strength index, which can be used to estimate the uniaxial compressive strength of the rock. Due to the compact design, this test can be performed either in a laboratory or in the field. This system has the option to operate with a manually-controlled hydraulic pump or an automatic hydraulic air pump.

 

These systems are able to wirelessly link with an iPhone, iPad, or any mobile device, to simplify data collection and eliminate unnecessary errors. All measured readings by the system are transmitted to the GCTS PLT App on the mobile device, allowing the user to view and analyze data directly on their device. The app also allows for the user to edit collected data as needed. When ready, the data can then be sent directly from the GCTS App to any e-mail(s) the user desires.

 

Additional parts can be added to the Point Load Tester to give it the ability to perform Brazilian, Uniaxial, and Ultrasonic Velocity tests. This allows the Point Load Tester to be a small, inexpensive device that can test a wide variety of rock strength parameters
