GCTS has built and delivered a large scale true triaxial (poly-axial) rock testing systems for specimens up to 300 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm dimensions. The main purpose for the completed true triaxial rock testing system is research into stress anisotropy during the hydraulic fracturing (fracking) process. In addition to hydraulic fracturing, the system has the ability to control stress or strain independently in all three orthogonal directions, as well as conduct permeability tests, ultrasonic velocity, acoustic emission measurements all at eleveated temperatures up to 200 °C.
